Hurricanes

Charley - Francis-  Ivan

This summer  Florida has been hit with

3 major hurricanes.

These storms are very serious.

This is the first year I've experienced such severe

storm warnings.  We were expected to get hit with at

least 2 of these big storms.

But for whatever reason they missed our area.

Will they keep missing us? Lets hope so.

I hope they miss everyone & just fizzle out at sea.

I can wish can't I?

We evacuated, we watched the news 24/7,

we boarded up, we took in everything from the yard,

we bought water, flashlights, batteries, more water, food, extra pet food, pet carriers.

We did all we could do.

But all I could think about was that we'd be washed or blown away if the storm hit.

We were lucky...

...Many were not so lucky.

Charlotte, DeSoto & Hardee Counties

Charley made landfall Friday

with winds of 145 mph (233 kph). At its worst,

Hurricane Charley's wind gusts topped 180 mph

(289 kph) in Punta Gorda.

Brevard, Indian River, Martin, Palm Beach

and St. Lucie Counties

Frances had maximum sustained winds near 105 mph (165 kph). Hurricane-force winds extend outward

85 miles (140 kilometers) from the storm's center.

The leading edge of the eye came ashore between Palm Beach on the south and Fort Pierce on the north.

Alabama & Florida Panhandle.

Hurricane Ivan made landfall near the port of Mobile, Alabama, at about 0300 (0700 GMT), bringing ferocious, swirling winds and heavy rains.

Waves - some up to 25ft (7.5m) - destroyed homes along the Florida shoreline

While waiting & watching for the storms to come or pass, many friends sent along jokes & funny pictures.

While hurricanes are very serious, it did help to read & see something that lightened me up & made me laugh, even just for a moment.
